Lubrication System and Functions of Machine Components

Sistem Pelumasan Beserta Fungsi Komponen Mesin

If you have a vehicle at home, of course you have to change the oil every few months, or ideally once every 2 months, go to a vehicle repairman, right?

Why is changing the oil so important?

It turns out that this is not for any reason, because vehicles cannot be separated from the manufacture of car engines from metal raw materials, this material is made as part of a tool or driving component and produces power from the combustion process, in this case of course causing hot temperatures that continue to increase due to the friction that occurs. happens in the machine.

Therefore, it is very important to always pay attention to this engine, especially the lubrication or what is also called oil in your vehicle, don't change the oil too late because it will cause the engine to wear out and result in damage to parts of the vehicle's engine components.

Providing this lubricant also functions for the engine so that its components can be maintained well, do not rust, conduct excess heat, and function to facilitate the vehicle's power draw so that it remains agile and performs smoothly.

What is meant by the lubrication system in a vehicle?

Vehicles of course require lubricants, usually using oil as the main ingredient. In the lubrication system, this tool functions as a reservoir, siphon, and a tool for filtering an engine.

Furthermore, the lubricant section of the vehicle can also function to spread oil fluid to each engine component part, the oil is able to enter and channel the fluid in various directions flowing through gaps in the vehicle engine.

Therefore, spread the oil to all locations and gaps in the components of the engine, the oil will function for lubrication and stick to every wall in the engine, so that friction in the engine parts will be blocked by the oil that sticks to it, so the engine will remain well maintained and remain durable. when used.

Oil also has other functions, namely as a noise reducer in vehicle engines as well as a coolant and guard against wear and tear on engine components.

This is the important basis for why oil needs to be paid attention to for every vehicle.

Get to know vehicle engine components

1. Oil pan components

As the name suggests, this oil pan functions to store lubricating materials or oil in vehicle engines.

2. Oil pump components

The oil pump functions to suck or drain oil from the sump to the engine components.

How the flow of the oil pump works is determined by the speed of each engine rotation such as the crankshaft, camshaft, or timing belt.

Next, the oil will enter the exhaust process at the end of the pump connection section. With this pump, the engine oil will spread evenly to each component part and will cause the engine to not use pressure.

3. Oil Filter Components

This oil filtering aims to ensure that the oil used is free from adhering particles or dust, so that when the oil enters the filter it will filter it.

4. Strainer Components

The same function as the oil filter, these two tools are able to filter dirt particles that enter the engine, but in a size that is quite large, namely with a diameter of approximately 1 millimeter, this tool is used so that dirt does not enter the engine.

5. Pressure Valve Components

This component functions to control repression, force or strength in the lubrication system, especially when the engine rotation speed is high.

6. Oil switch components

This tool functions as a repression sensor for oil pressure, then this tool will inform performance during use, these things include whether the oil pump pressure requirements in the engine are met or not.

7. Oil gallery components

The main function of the oil gallery is as a connector or hole for the main oil flow leading to the block in the vehicle engine.

The current in this hole will connect the oil to the parts the engine needs.

8. Oil Jet Components

This tool aims to distribute lubricant to the drive rods in vehicle engine components.

9. PCV Valve Components

This component is included in the flow circuit in the engine or is the air flow usually found in the chamber of the engine crank.

This component functions to release carbon gas and smoke released by the combustion process. This aims to ensure that the pressure of the air that exhales the oil is more stable.
